Original post

Friends,

Music is a hobby of mine. Or a passion even. Finding new music that I love and sharing it with you … the finding I’d be doing anyway, the sharing just adds to the fun. Seeing that posts are being read and links clicked is gratifying, because I know every click means that somebody is checking out an artist I feel deserves to be.

Charlotte Eriksson aka The Glass Child is such an artist.

The story of The Glass Child is one of those you usually see on movies. Only 18 years old she left everything she had and knew, family and friends, and moved to London to dedicate her life to her music and art. A vague dream about reaching out with her music became an everlasting journey about fighting for your dreams, self discovery, finding your true purpose and creating something that will mean something, now with over 35,000 dedicated followers and fans with her on her journey through her social sites like Twitter and Tumblr.

Forward five years and she has started her own record label Broken Glass Records, released 5 EPs and 2 full-length albums, had her single ”I Will Lead You Home” reaching #2 on the Swedish iTunes-chart, was named Breakthrough Indie Artist Of The Year by Lemonade Magazine, and been played on major radio such as BBC6 (UK), Sveriges Radio (Sweden) and 3FM (Netherlands). She’s published three books, telling story about her wandering ways, life as an artists and travel essays about love and loss. The first book “Empty Roads and Broken Bottles; in search for The Great Perhaps”, was beautifully received and has been widely praised both by her fanbase and by a new literary crowd of writers and readers. She then went on to publish two more books of travel essays and poetry.

As a wandering soul, Charlotte is constantly vagabonding and relocating to spread her art and music. Charlotte has spent the last 2 years in Germany, developing her craft and stories, which are now ready to fly free in the world. Her 3rd full-length album reached 100% funded through PledgeMusic.com in less than a week, and the new album, titled “Under Northern Skies” will be released 29th of April, 2016. To support the album she will be touring allover Europe for the rest of the year.

The first single “The Year I Disappeared” was released March 25th, together with a scenic music video shot in London.

I am incredibly privileged today, having been given the opportunity by Charlotte to listen to the full album so that I can give you my thoughts on it.

And honestly: I’m well impressed.

Each previous record has reflected her growth as a songwriter and producer so I was expecting this to be her best work yet. But this…this is so very good.

As always she pours her heart. Lays bare her soul. It’s her own story she’s putting into words and as a listener you feel this. This has been true for all her releases but it’s this combined with her maturing voice and songwriting and the high quality recording and production that make this album a real triumph. A great leap forward for this young Swede…what a journey she is on.

I highly recommend you give this album a listen come April 29th. It’s beautiful front to back. I’ll post a link in due time.
